Who The Hell Is Hugo?

Mama Tried Show Inspiration

We just came back from the Mama Tried show in Milwaukee. What a blast to meet with old friends while meeting new ones like the talented builder Charlie Stockwell from London. We fell for his tracker built based on the brand new Harley-Davidson Sportster. Since we are a tad behind on the tracker kit manufacturing, it was an excellent way for us to find motivation and inspiration to finish this project. More on this soon!

At the show, people either called us Hugo, the Hugo Guys or the Hugo Boys. As we started talking about the kit, we inevitably came back to the name Hugo and why on earth we had called our company Hugo Moto?

Hugo: "We Can Get In Trouble, That's How You Know It's An Adventure!"

We are movie freaks, a lot of our products, like our “Dude” skid plate, are named after movie references. Yep, we have a full bag of Big Lebowski quotes coming at ya. It ties the room together you know.

We initially started the business in 2016 as "Hugo" and quickly pinned "Hugo Moto." The Inspiration came from Hugo, the 2011 Martin Scorsese movie. The movie came from the book “The Invention of Hugo Cabret.” It’s about a boy who lives alone in the Gare Montparnasse railway station in Paris in the 1930s. That boy is a genius inventor, a mechanically brilliant kid. Since three of us are French-American, the character just fit both our French-eatin-American-entrepreneurial-boot-strappin'-ingenious ways and of course our riders, the talented wrenching fab kind.

Never Grow Up. It's A Trap!

We have contracted a rare form of the Peter Pan syndrome. The virus seems to focus on a two-wheel obsession. The entire team, including our manufacturer, dealers, and riders (customers) have this visceral connection with motorcycles and everything that relates to it. It is deeply rooted in our childhood with days spent on bicycles that quickly transformed into dirt bikes and a plethora of motorcycles in the garage.

So in a way, all of us have a piece of that kid Hugo in us.
